SEC provides regulatory relief for hurricane victims

KPMG reports on the SEC’s recent orders and interim final temporary rules that extend filing deadlines for companies affected by Hurricanes Florence and Michael. The extensions apply to companies affected by the loss of property and power, and suspension of transportation and mail delivery services.

Relevant dates

Hurricane Florence: The revised deadline is October 29, 2018 for any filing due on or after September 14, 2018

Hurriane Michael:  The revised deadline is November 23, 2018 for any filing due on or after October 10, 2018

  • The SEC has given emergency regulatory relief to companies and their advisors affected by Hurricanes Florence and Michael that resulted in loss of property, power, transportation and mail delivery  
  • For companies affected by Hurricane Florence, the period of relief is September 14, 2018 through October 26, 2018. All filings are due October 29, 2018
  • For companies affected by Hurricane Michael, the period of relief is October 10, 2018 through November 21, 2018. All filings are due November 23, 2018
